Exporter seeking clarification on license process

AN exporter of beche-de-mer in Morobe wants the clarification of the process and compliance requirements to secure an export license.
Titus Lau of the Morobe Seafood Ltd said there had been no feedback from the National Fisheries Authority on the status of exporters who had submitted license renewals.
Lau said companies in Morobe were never notified to withdraw their K50,000 bond fee before applying for a new license.
Company officials met with Morobe Fisheries Authority board chairman Weti Zozingao and provincial inspector Garry Benga on Monday to raise their concerns.
“We want all Morobe companies to be granted licences to export,” Lau said.
Provincial fisheries committee chairman Malcolm Kalo said NFA officers were working on addressing the grievances.
Fisheries Minister Dr Lino Tom last month, told Morobe fishermen that the beche-de-mer industry would be reserved for Papua New Guineans.
