Exposing alleged corrupt dealings

Letters

I AM writing to expose some of the alleged corrupt deals in Pomio, if we are serious about taking back PNG!
The Pomio MP recently posted about a feasibility study on potential hydro systems in Pomio conducted at the Unung and Tolo Rivers, carried out by AG Energies Ltd.
When questioned about the study, the MP said there was a submission last June by this company thus follows the study.
My question is; why didn’t the good MP call for feasibility scopes from interested group and have a district panel do the selection?
I am sure there are qualified firms who could have done the job at a competitive price.
It is alleged to be a Singaporean company on the pretence of being local.
I have done my profile search on this firm and confirmed this.
Pomio is blessed with a number of beautiful streams and windy spots whereby mini-hydro systems and wind energy could be utilised.
Having to harness Unung and Tolo would be immense and will cost the district a lot monetarily and environment wise.
I suggest the MP take a visit to the Autonomous Region of Bougainville to see for himself the environmentally friendly minihydro systems which have been serving people here since the height of the crisis.
Pomio MP, could you also explain the failed alleged K1.5mil rural electrification programme which was awarded to JeCli or Jacquinot Bay holdings?
To date, there is no tangible development electricity wise at Palmalmal and Pomio stations.
Last I heard, the owner of this company is hiding away in Takubar whilst the people are complaining about poor power services.
Another deal is the Bain Road project which causes to many controversy on the social media (Facebook).
And for which the MP is allegedly contributing meaningless explanation to the awarding of this contract.
What about the SME funds for the district? There were allegations that officers at the district office accessed these for their own benefit without informing the public of the existence of these funds.
Last but not the least is the building of the Palmalmal District office contract which was alleged to have been awarded to one of the MP’s in-laws or friend from Sepik.
The quality of this office does not meet standards as is the case with every project contract that you personally awarded.
Like all the cases above, it seems that every deal was alleged to have been done in the back alleys.
My good MP, the next letter I will be writing will be about the technicality of the hydro projects that you are about to undertake.
Over to you now!

Concern citizen,
Pomio
