CRITICAL cargo for the PNG LNG project in Hela and Southern Highlands was now being airlifted from Lae to Komo Airport in Hela following a serious breakdown in law and order between Mendi and Nipa, in the Southern Highlands.
Trans Wonderland Ltd (TWL), a major transport and logistics company which provides transport and support services to ExxonMobil PNG, the operator of the PNG LNG project, said the operation would be an expensive exercise and which would also affect the Government’s revenue.
TWL managing director Larry Andagali said seven of TWL’s trucks carrying LNG cargo and an escort vehicle were all being held up at Poroma.
“ExxonMobil is now taking a very expensive exercise by airlifting LNG cargo out of Lae, in Morobe, to Komo Airport,” he said.
“We are all in this together and the Government must act quickly to arrest these people and put them behind bars.”
