EXXONMOBIL PNG (EMPNG) has been managing the implementation of K4.3 million worth of equipment and other support to the National Coordination Centre (NCC), NCD, Central and Hela health authorities for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) emergency response.
A statement from EMPNG said it was continued support to the Government’s Coronavirus (Covid-19) emergency response.
Since the start of the programme early this year, much-needed medical supplies and equipment have been delivered to NCDHA, Port Moresby General Hospital, NCC, Hela and Central Health authorities.
Also included as part of this programme was the October donation of a mobile vaccine clinic to the Motu Koita Assembly.
EMPNG managing director Peter Larden said the Covid-19 was having a significant impact on
the people and economy, and it would take everyone – Government, industry, international donors and communities – to work together to overcome the pandemic’s challenges. “We share the Government’s commitment to safety
and its focus on minimising the spread of the Covid-19 and caring for the affected population,” he said.
“Our focus is the safety and the health of our workforce and the communities in which we operate to help prevent the spread of the Covid-19, and to maintain operations that provide critical revenues to the country and the communities that (affect) our operations.”
Larden said PNG LNG initiative supported the nation’s diagnostic capacity training, medical supplies and logistics support.
He said the staff also helped the Health Department with the distribution of the Covid-19 awareness material and food donations to medical facilities and remote area frontline workers.
