EXXONMOBIL PNG, the operator of the US$19 billion (about K45 billion) PNG LNG project, is the third platinum sponsor for the PNG-Asia Investment Conference in Hong Kong.
Chairperson and managing director Tera Shandro said ExxonMobil’s outlook for energy forecast that by 2050, the world population would increase.
And to meet this demand, natural gas would play a critical role because of its abundance, low cost, and ability to reduce emission.
“PNG – through its geographical location and high-quality resources – is well positioned to support this growing demand especially in the Asia-Pacific where its countries are to be a core natural gas customer for decades to come,” she said.
“We’re excited to continue supporting the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum to raise the profile of the strong pipeline of investment potential PNG offers.”
Hosted by the PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, under the theme “Partnership for Prosperity”, the event will take place at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong on Oct 16 and 17.
PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum president Anthony Smaré welcomed ExxonMobil PNG as a platinum sponsor.
“PNG LNG is a demonstration of the strong linkages between PNG and Asia through its major customers in the Asian markets,” he said.
“The sustained success of the PNG LNG, under ExxonMobil’s leadership, in supplying these important markets is a great illustration of the reliability of PNG as an important trade partner for Asia.
