Families receive titles for Christmas under corporation’s housing schemes

THE 20 National Housing Corporation (NHC) property titles given to families around the country came under nine different housing schemes.
Housing and Urbanisation Minister John Kaupa said the set-up included the government-sale-of scheme, give-away scheme, cash-sales scheme, rental-purchase, advance scheme, self-help scheme, national home ownership scheme, land sales and the Morgan scheme.
He said the NHC had a duty to implement State policies.
“But most were not implemented or took a long time to be implemented,” Kaupa said.
“So I am now implementing all these schemes as we have a manual record system, and the files have all been piling up and it is very risky as in the case of a fire or anything, we may lose all the records.
“I also decided to give out the first 20 house titles last Friday as its Christmas. I’d like to think that someone out there who receives the title will have a blessed Christmas.”
