Farmers getting support

Gazelle, East New Britain, will support copra farmers through a white copra support programme in the district’s 2021 budget.
Gazelle development authority deputy chairman and president of Reimber-Livuan local level government Sam Piniau said this last Friday during the closing of a white copra training.
He said included in the district budget was the 130 coconut nurseries for the 130 wards in the district.
Piniau said all wards in the district would have a coconut nursery that would be supervised by the Kokonas Indastri Koporesen (KIK).
“The talk of white copra we have been hearing in Kokopo has now come to our doorstep,” he said.
“I believe that after the training, people will start working on what they have learnt.
“I (can) assure the KIK team that with the training you have passed onto us, this project will make a difference in the families and communities.
“This will surely grow our local economy.”

  • Inspiring and positive story for people in Kokopo.

How do we order samples of soap from local farmers in Kokopo if one does not reside in Rabaul as a means to support their activities. That’s not included in the story or does the target market involve Rabaul residents only.
