FRESH Produce Development Agency (FPDA) officers taught farmers at the Goroka show ways to grow various crops.
The officers explained how to acquire seedlings, prepare nurseries, maintain quality control, manage post-harvest and seek markets for their produce.
FPDA chief executive officer Mark Worinu said technical officers trained farmers and lead partners on how to do proper packaging, sorting, grading and labelling of their products as they enter the fresh produce markets.
Samples of potato, bulb onion, cabbage, broccoli, garlic, cauliflower, capsicum, tomato, pea, watermelon, taro, pineapple, orange, carrot, asparagus, banana, and passion and sugar fruits were displayed at the show. Albert Ukaiya, one of the recipient of the bulb onion solar dryer project funded by the British American Tobacco brought in bulb onions treated from the solar dryer.
And Jesse Yawane, a citrus producer and seed supplier from Menifo in Lufa, brought orange seedlings.
