Fashion festival to feature 8 local designers

THIS Saturday’s PNG Fashion Festival in Port Moresby will showcase eight local designers from Papua New Guinea, two from abroad and three from the University of PNG.
The festival, titled, “Fashion for Peace” will be held at the Stanley Hotel and Suites.
According to the PNG Fashion & Design Week Limited, the annual event had grown since its inception in 2016.
“In 2016, the PNG Fashion Festival took its first steps onto the runway, setting the stage for what would become a remarkable saga of style and identity,” the PNG Fashion & Design Week Ltd said.
“From the very beginning, the festival showcased a commitment to celebrating Papua New Guinea’s diverse cultures and traditional artistry,”the PNG Fashion & Design Week Ltd said.
“Indigenous motifs, age-old techniques and local materials became the palette for designers to craft their narratives, weaving together threads of heritage and contemporary flair.”
The company said the festival had brought together designers, artisans, models and fashion enthusiasts from both the nation and abroad.
It said with each passing edition, the festival gained momentum, cementing its status as a showcase of fashion innovation intertwined with cultural reverence.
