With the National Capital District Volleyball Association finals nearing, Edatec Scorpions, Jamas and Telikom are considered the top contenders for the title.
The men’s premier division will see second-placed Scorpions go up against fifth-placed Vailima, and third-placed Telikom take on competition leaders Jamas. With only three games to go before the finals start, Edatec Scorpions, Jamas and Telikom — the top three teams — are well placed to seal this season’s bragging rights. It will be height and power against speed when Jamas play Telikom this weekend.
Jamas have the height advantage and power in the likes of Charlie Maino, Bruce Kila, Ogi Lelesi, George David and setter Martin who are expected to dominate above the net.
On the other hand, Telikom have the speed and attacking combinations, which are proving to be key assets as the season progresses.
Particularly, the combination of Jeffery Charlie, David Numa, Ian Wari and setter Erick Wai is getting better every weekend.
Good ball control will be the key, with a close result expected.
In the women’s premier division, Jamas will be eager to beat Telikom to stay in finals contention.
MJ Electrical U-Mi Yet, Edatec Scorpions and Jamas share top spot on 27 points.
A loss by Jamas will see them slip, with Telikom hoping to displace one of the three ahead of the finals. U-Mi Yet should come home against Ela Motors, and the Scorpions are expected to beat Vailima.
