IF there is a home ground curse at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium, than Gigira Laitepo Morobe United is under enormous pressure to break out after being shut out by a FC POM 1-0.
The match last Saturday in Lae was a disappointment for the Morobe franchise.
The  loss added to their string of unexpected defeats in front of their home crowd.
Not even a change of the coaching staff last month has injected anything into the team.
The win over Morobe was a sweet experience for the Port Moresby franchise whose youngsters in Shannon Andrew and John Robert debuted in Lae and backed up their veteran players Cyril Muta, Reginald Davani and Neil Hans to hold off Morobe.
Former Besta PNG United captain Roland Bala scored the only goal of the match in the 13th minute.
Morobe’s influential mid-fielders Simon Emmanuel and Eliud Fugre could not get the link between their defenders and attackers working.
Morobe’s countless raids into FC POMs territory kept the defending goalkeeper Albert Mesulam busy. The win by FC POM sees them now sharing the second spot with Morobe.
In the only other match of the weekend, Eastern Stars beat Tavur 2-1 yesterday at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby continuing the West New Britons’ winless season .
