FC Port Moresby is about playing football and that is our focus, the club chairman Richard Kassman said yesterday.

He said his club has resisted the temptation to respond to many negative comments about FC Port Moresby that have appeared in the newspapers, on radio and social media because it want to take a professional approach, and hanging out the dirty laundry of sports administration simply causes damage to the sport of soccer.

Kassman (pictured) said FC Port Moresby was compelled however to respond to an article in The National Thursday 23 January 2014, purporting to represent NSL’s Development Manager  Chris Brown, stating that the third delay to the NSL season is due to the pending case between FC Port Moresby and NSL.  The chairman stated categorically that FC Port Moresby has not taken out a court injunction preventing the 2014 NSL competition from starting.

The FC Port Moresby chairman said his club appreciated that a lot of effort has been expended by franchise owners, sponsors, families and supporters, and like other NSL clubs, FC Port Moresby has been in training since October 2013, and the club is itching to get on the pitch to play football.

Kassman said FC Port Moresby will not comment of the matters currently before the court.

“What we can say is that FC Port Moresby and NSL lawyers are talking and in addition we have been in direct communication with PNGFA and OFC, FC Port Moresby remains committed to finding a resolution expeditiously,” he said.
