Feeding delegates no big deal

Lae News, Normal

The Lutheran Church Synod has attracted more than the 850 delegates it had required.By yesterday’s opening sessions, officials thought the number had exceeded 1,500. All of the delegates from the 17 districts arrived with their own stock of food. At the Balob Teachers College, host to the Mumeng, Wampar, and Aseki-Menyamya, cooks had to work late into the night and begin early to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner. But that’s not a bother. The cooks said their main concern was that there were not enough cooking utensils. These women are from Wampar and Aseki-Menyamya peeling the marafri banana for lunch and dinner while the men are getting a pig ready to be slaughtered.
