THREE Papua New Guinea female artists participated in the third international travelling exhibition for contemporary art in Brisbane last Wednesday.
The National Cultural Commission (NCC) in partnership with Paradise Palette held its first exhibition from May 26 to June 20 at the Tanks Arts Centre in Cairns.
The second was held from Aug 28 to Sept 20 in Darwin.
The artists from PNG included Elma Dantu Elias from East New Britain, Gazellah Brudersione from Port Moresby and Kyliemera Kapiri from Morobe.
NCC director Steven Kilanda said the aim was to open for the least fortunate artists an avenue to participate in such platforms and showcase their talents, foster partnerships and create paths for career development.
“This exhibition marks a milestone achievement for the arts industry in PNG, and solidifies the relationship for more cultural exchange programme between the government of Papua New Guinea and Australia,” he said.
Kilanda said with the launching of the medium term development plan IV gave prominence to tourism, arts and cultural development.
The contemporary arts exhibition is one of the important platforms that NCC is investing in to develop the creative art industry.
