BARRICK Papua New Guinea Ltd donated K10,000 to the Operation Open Heart Foundation last week to help its programme this year.
Country manager Dr Ila Temu said Barrick recognised the important work the foundation had done over the years in providing needed open and close heart surgery to save many lives and that had made a profound difference to the lives of those concerned.
Temu said this year marked the company’s seventh year of support.
He said the company had donated K70,000 to the programme so far.
He said the company was proud of its association with the Operation Open Heart programme because since its inception it had given hundreds of heart patients a second chance.
Present to witness the presentation was a teenager, Yolanda Tsang, who like many others is a success story of the programme.
The Open Heart programme gave Tsang a second chance at the age of four.
Port Moresby General Hospital director medical services, Dr David Mokela, and Operation Open Heart Foundation member Maryln Ward received the cheque.
