THE management of the Yonki-based PNG Power Ltd held a special inter-faith denomination gathering in Yonki town over the Easter weekend.

It was organised by the PPL Highlands regional programme manager Pulman Tiran in partnership with the Yonki inter-faith church groups and members of surrounding community.

Inter-church denominations from mainline and Pentecostals churches, Yonki police and Yonki Primary School witnessed the signing of a covenant with the God of Israel.

The same covenant was signed by former Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare at the Sione Kami Memorial Church, in Port Moresby, in 2007.

Tiran said it was the first time for the company to host a big religious gathering for PPL staff and family members.

He said it was important that communities in Yonki, including locals from the surrounding Arona valley, must put God first in all their dealings and lives.

The event at the Yonki sports complex saw company staff dressed in their company colours of blue and white and churches in their own colours.

Pr Kabong Basengke of the Yonki Assemblies of God church delivered the dedication sermon, highlighting the importance of the 10 Commandments as the foundation of our moral behaviour.
