Firm introduces vitamin rich biscuit

PARADISE Foods Company Ltd will introduce to the market a vitamin-enriched biscuit for children, says chief executive officer James Rice.
Prime Minister James Marape, after a tour of the company on Tuesday, welcomed the company’s drive to be innovative and its commitment to downstream processing.
Rice told The National that the initiative was the company’s way of doing its part to address malnutrition in PNG children.
“We are the only company that can deliver a low-priced healthy food product to everyone in the country,” he said.
“We believe this is a game-changer for PNG children.
“We make biscuits, now we want to make a difference.”
The Smart Start biscuit is its new breakfast biscuit fortified with essential vitamins and dietary fibre, essential as part of a balanced diet for children.
Vitamins A, B6 and B12 help build immunity, improve metabolism and are important for body and brain health.
Each packet of eight breakfast biscuits contained 25 per cent of the daily recommended intake of these three essential vitamins. “Our purpose is to feed the nation and Smart Start is PNG’s first locally-produced biscuit that offers additional nutritional benefits,” Rice said.
“In fact, we are the only local manufacturer to develop and launch a breakfast biscuit fortified with Vitamins A, B6 and B12.
“The added dietary fibre assists with good bowel health.
“Smart Start really is a smart, healthy and affordable way to start your day.”
Rice said Smart Start was developed internally over 18 months with the aim of producing a nutritious biscuit for young consumers.
