DECORATED former international, Queensland Origin and North Queensland Cowboys great, Brent Tate, will accompany Trukai Industries management on the pioneering direct flight between Port Moresby and Townsville on Friday.
With Air Niugini and Queensland Airports starting regular flights between Port Moresby and Townsville from Friday onwards, the Cowboys deemed it essential to share their allocated seats promoting the historic flight with valued sponsor and major partner Trukai.
Tate will be joined by Cowboys general manager commercial cusiness Jeff Reibel for a promotional visit to Port Moresby, before accompanying Trukai Industries general managers sales and marketing Andrew Daubney and one of Trukai’s key customers back to Townsville.
While in Port Moresby, Tate will visit the National Football Stadium for a tour of the facilities and to speak with PNG Hunters players, before lending his support to charity groups Life Care PNG and City Mission, where he will engage with children.
He will also meet and greet key customers of the rice distributor while in town.
Queensland Airports have pulled out all stops to make the maiden flight a memorable one for the PNG firm and the Cowboys, with the group conducting a media event at Townsville Airport upon landing, which will include Cowboys CEO Greg Tonner and representatives from Air Niugini and Queensland Airports.
The Cowboys will then host Trukai Industries for the Cowboys’ big game against South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday night.
“We are honoured to share this memorable experience with our partner, the North Queensland Cowboys,” Daubney said.
“Our affiliation dates back to 2009 and it is a partnership we value at Trukai.
“This gesture by the Cowboys once again shows the sentiment is mutual.
“This new direct flight between Port Moresby and Townsville, if anything, only strengthens our relationship and we thank Queensland Airports and Air Niugini for their generosity.  “The Port Moresby-Townsville flight is going to be a popular one for PNG residents and expatriates, I am certain,” he said.
