THE Rabaul Golf and Squash Club in East New Britain is looking forward to hosting the 67th New Britain Open in Kokopo from July 19-21.
Islands Petroleum on Monday presented K30,000 to the club as major sponsor.
Club director Peter Lung and president John Nightingale witnessed the presentation.
Islands petroleum commercial mana Oliver Bluett said the company was proud to be the major sponsor of the three-day tournament.
“ENB is our home and we are proud to sponsor and host Papua New Guinea’s longest and most historic event,” Bluett said.
Bluett said Islands Petroleum was in the process of developing a nationwide network of fuel depots.
He said the company was also a major sponsor of the Agmark Rabaul Gurias and other sports, including national game fishing in the country.
Lung said more than 100 golfers would be arriving in Kokopo from July 18.
He said golfers would be coming from Port Moresby, Bulolo, Kavieng and Australia.
“Nomination for the tournament is expected to close on Friday,” said Lung.
Lung also said the Prime Minister’s Cup was expected to start on Saturday and end on Sunday at Kerevat.
