JACK’S of PNG has partnered a local company to distribute supporters merchandise for SP Hunters and PNG Kumuls.
Pacific Sports Media Marketing Limited (PSMML) managing director Hubert Warupi said that was a huge boost to the company because they were also an SME that tried to get market recognition.
“The company being the licensed merchandiser for the rugby football league had gone into partnership with Jack’s of PNG to sell and exclusively distribute items through all Jack’s outlets and other organisations in the country under the ‘LIG’ brand name,” Warupi said.
He told The National that the company with its sports and marketing background, came up with the name that entails ‘league’ in tok pisin , to target sports market of merchandised casual and sporting wear.
They have gone into business with Jack’s for almost a week now and have supplied 2000 of cotton pieces shirts for SP Hunters.
“The items ranges from kids’ polo shirts to adult (sizes small to XL) shirts that are sold at the price range of K24.95 (kids) to K34.95 for adults,” Warupi said.
They were also looking at designing corporate wear.
“We’ve been able to get the PNGRFL first half and we will only be doing the Hunters and Kumul’s supporters range for now.”
They are encouraging other associations and sporting clubs to also do the same too.
Jack’s of PNG business corporate manager Yogesh Samy said the partnership with PSMML was to promote local brands in the country.
He said since their establishment in PNG two years ago, they had seen that there was this sporting gap in merchandising as most sporting gears sold in the country were very expensive.
The focus was on partnerships with local companies like PSMML to bridge that gap and encourage people to support their local teams in the country.
