First medal for PNG

Morea Baru celebrating after winning the silver medal yesterday in the men’s 62kg division at the Commonwealth Games weightlifting competition at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre. Baru finished with a total of 286kg, two kilos behind gold medal winner Muhamad Aznil Bidin of Malaysia. The Hanuabada man snatched 127kg and lifted 159kg in the clean and jerk, while Bidin had 126kg (snatch) and 162kg (clean and jerk) to edge out Baru for first place.
