First PNGRFL, now Madang RL

The National – Thursday, March 31, 2011

I WOULD like to inform the rugby league community of Madang and Papua New Guinea of a bizarre development in the province.
For the reason only known to himself, the so-called chairman of PNGRFL Brian Kramer has, without notice, usurped the powers, functions and responsibilities of the duly elected Madang Rugby League administration.
Pending any statement or directive from the PNGRFL board, what he had done was in breach and had interfered with the operations of the local league.
His action demeans his credibility and, more importantly, demeans the integrity and respect of the higher office he claims to occupy.
Kramer and some cohorts have taken over the Ron Albert oval and its premises.
They went in and evicted those who were taking care of the premises during the off season.
All locks to the doors and gates have been replaced with new ones.
One room was cleared up for office space (for whom is not known) and a caretaker was asked to lodge in one of the rooms and look after the premises.
He has engaged some youths to clear the field and the surrounding areas.
Kramer is also going around trying to lobby support to have another AGM.
All these are happening without the collective knowledge and consent of the administration which was elected last November during the AGM.
The administration of Madang Rugby League is disgusted and deplores the approach taken by Kramer.
The in-fighting at the national level has now reached Madang.
As the president-elect of Madang Rugby League, I find the actions of Kramer out of line.
