FIVE Vocational Education and Training (Vet) schools in the National Capital District (NCD) have received Emergency in Education (EiE) curriculum books recently.
The books for teachers were distributed by the Department of Education under the funding of Australian High Commission through AusAid and administrated by Unicef as the grant agent for monitoring and compliance.
The five schools that received the books were Morata, Limana, Maino Heduru, Badili and Koki, with each receiving 33 boxes, 25 copies of learner resources and five of teachers’ guidelines.
The distribution of the books will also cover 18 other Vocational Training Centres in four West Sepik (Telefomin, Aitape, Arop and Pes), Western (Kiunga, Morehead and Balimo), Morobe (St Francis, Malahang and St Therese Dom) and Madang (St Benedict’s Danib Agricultural, St Anne’s and Amron).
Acting project management division first assistant secretary Stanphill Dekama said last year, there were 66 books for Vet printed through the commitment of Vet curriculum writers, graphic designers and the support of Vet operations and inspections.
“I acknowledge the funding support and Unicef for the monitoring and compliance of the project under the Education Emergency Response and Recovery Plan for the Coronavirus, specifically within the realm of EiE Vet.
Acting Vet curriculum assistant secretary Violet Gerega said the resources came in seven courses which were national certificate (NC) 1 and NC2 in workplace skills, NC1 and NC2 in vocational pathways, NC2 in tourism, NC2 in hospitality and NC2 in kitchen operations.
“These qualifications are internationally recognised, of which the learner can secure employment and also can be able to transfer credit points globally.”
