CENTRAL police have arrested five men for alleged rape and murder of a woman in her mid-30s in Brown River outside Port Moresby on Christmas Day.
“We are looking for two more suspects who are on the run,” Central commander Chief Supt Johannes Yapi said.
He said the five suspects were picked up in Brown River following a tip off and they would appear in court this month.
“The five suspects arrested at Brown River by police after some tip offs and information from sources given,” Chief Supt Yapi said, adding that police were waiting for the post-mortem to confirm that she was raped and killed.
He said the woman was returning home from her garden when seven drunkard youths confronted her.
Her body was found in a bush two days later on Dec 27 by police conducting a Christmas crime-prevention operation.
