FIVE Bank South Pacific (BSP) SMS banking customers’ luck showed up just in time for Christmas when they won K5,000 each.
They reaped the timely windfall after entering the bank’s SMS banking competition that ran for the past five weeks.
And with the prices of goods skyrocketing during these harsh economic times, the winners were happy that their burdens over Christmas gifts and food for festive feasts had been eased.
One of the winners was Colbert Aumava from the Gulf province, a father of six, who, before being told of his windfall, was a worried man.
“I was worried about my children’s school fees for next year,” Mr Aumava, who banks at BSP Waigani, said.  He picked up five applications for school fee loan last week. But there is no need for him to fill them up.
His wife shed tears when they checked his account  last Thursday morning and found the cash.
“This is the best Christmas gift in my life and we really thank BSP,” the couple said.
“This will help solve my problem and help me celebrate Christmas,” a very thankful Mr Aumava said.
The other winners, namely Nathaniel Aku (Mt Hagen), Raphael Nali (Lae), Danny Bill (Lae) and Arthur Luluai (Kokopo) had similar experiences to share and agreed that BSP had come good.
BSP congratulated these five grand winners and also 50 supplementary winners over the past five weeks who won K500 each in weekly draws.
