OUTGOING chairman of the Association of South Pacific Airlines Simon Foo, who has held the post since 2015, has welcomed his successor Geoff Bowmaker.
Foo noted his confidence that the change in leadership would maintain the development for greater cooperation for the regional airline industry.
He had been chairman since 2015, having served two terms and is also Air Niugini chief executive.
“I congratulate the new chairman. I am confident he will continue to develop the association’s goals to nurture and grow the airline industry in our region,” Foo said.
Foo was also pleased to note the significant progress the association had made over the years while fulfilling objectives that were mandated under its charter.
Bowmaker, who has been the deputy chairman for several years, said he was honoured to lead the association for the next 12 months as chairman.
“I appreciate the good work of the previous chairman who has greatly assisted my transition into the role,” Bowmaker said.
The association has 13 airline members and 46 industry service provider members.
Its primary role is to serve as a common forum for the articulation of members views on matters and issues of common interest.
It is also to foster close co-operation and to bring an atmosphere conducive to the stimulation of the travel and tourism industry in the region.
