OPPOSITION leader Douglas Tomuriesa says the foreign exchange (forex) shortage continues to affect individuals and businesses.
He added that the devaluation of the Kina created problems for the average income earners.
“The price for a 20kg bag of rice is now K105,” he said.
“Two weeks ago when I went to the supermarket, the same bag of rice was K95. How long will the Government continue to talk about budget repairs? Too long, people are suffering.
“Kina is depreciating. What is the Government doing to peg the Kina?”
Tomuriesa yesterday reminded Marape to revisit his commitments such as providing jobs for the newly graduates.
He reiterated that the resource projects should not have been stalled in the first place.
“We need jobs and cash flow,” he said.
Tomuriesa, the Kiriwina Goodenough MP, also reminded Marape to bring the Coronavirus (Covid-19) report to Parliament this month.
