FORFEITURES were the order of the weekend in the Port Moresby Rugby League season opener at the National Football Stadium Oval 2.
PRL operations manager McKenzie Maino said that the forfeitures were from clubs unable to field teams that had registered players.
The clubs affected were Hohola Flies, Defence, Royals, Magani, Butterflies, West and Kone Storm.
Maino said Royals and Magani had presented a cheque to pay for their players’ fees but it had yet to clear.
Clubs passed a resolution on player registration at a pre-season meeting with all in agreement that only registered players would be allowed to play.
In the A grade, Hawks forfeited Flies, Tarangau beat Souths 20-2 and Royals kept Magani scoreless 18-0. In the women’s division, Sisters beat Paga Panthers 12- 6.
Hawks forfeited Flies, Tarangau beat Souths 14-4, Kone Tigers forfeited Dobo Warriors.
PRL has scheduled matches today to complete the first round as the competition uses only one field.
