Former administrator facing misappropriation charge

FORMER East Sepik administrator on misappropriation charges relating to public funds is now awaiting a trial at the National Court in Wewak.
Elizabeth Kaprangi, 59, from Krupia village, Wewak in East Sepik was charged with misappropriating about K800,000 belonging to the PNG Defence Force in 2016 and still has her case pending at the National Court. It was alleged that the money was part of the K2 million allocated for infrastructural projects for the PNGDF second Pacific Island Regiment’s Moem Barracks, which was in the East Sepik treasury operating account.
Kaprangi, was charged with one count each of abuse of office and misappropriation on Monday.
Her case is set to return for a call over in January at the National Court in Wewak where a trial date will be set for the hearing.
