FORMER Pangtel managing director John Nulai has died in Port Moresby.
Younger brother and National Parliament staffer Paul Nulai said his brother suffered a seizure and died upon arrival at the Gerehu General Hospital on Jan 15.
The late Nulai also served as managing director of Lae Biscuit Company and as senior ministerial staff of New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan during his second term as prime minister.
Nulai was from Omkolai village, in Gumine district, of Chimbu.
He is survived by his wife Christine and six-year-old son Martin.
Older brother Daniel Nulai said that despite his brother’s distinguished record and high-flying career, in both the public and private sectors, he lived a humble life grounded on principles and realities of the struggles of everyday people.
Nulai contested the Gumine open seat in 1982 and 1997 and the Chimbu regional seat in 2007.
Pangtel was formed on April 17, 1996, to corporatise the Post and Telecommunications Corporation and to separate it into
Telikom, Post PNG Limited and Nicta.
