Former NCD sub-urban rugby league chairman Billy Aki will stand trial for allegedly killing his wife.
Aki, 38 and from Tambul in Western Highlands is charged with the murder of his wife on Dec 26, last year at Kone Tigers Oval in NCD.
Magistrate John Kaumi told the court on Monday that there was sufficient evidence in the matter to commit Aki to trial.
Aki gave his statement and after considering it, Kaumi ordered the committal. Aki, who first appeared in court on Jan 7, has been remanded at Bomana prison since.
He will appear for listing at the national court on Oct 31.
Police alleged that Aki assaulted his wife at the Kone Tigers Oval in full view of the public, following an argument on Dec 26 at 3pm.
The alleged incident left her with serious injuries.
She was admitted to the intensive care unit at the Port Moresby General Hospital and later died.
