Former staff out on bail

A FORMER employee of a Government corporation is out on K1,000 bail after being charged with misappropriation and abuse of office, police say.
The accused, from Kompiam-Ambum, Enga, was arrested last Friday and charged with abusing his office to engage a private vehicle for K104,800 without following proper procedure.
He is now out on bail and is expected to appear before the Waigani District Court for committal proceedings.
It is alleged that between Dec 2, 2019, and last March 9, the accused allegedly conspired with a private hire car company and illegally authorised the supply of fuel from the corporation’s fuel bowser totalling K3,456.
Police alleged that the private hire car company wrote to the corporation advising it to pay about K105,000 for hiring its vehicles.
