The Australia-Papua New Guinea Forum and Trade Expo will include for the first time a session on opportunities available in Australia for Papua New Guinea investors.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and Australia Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull have been invited to speak on the business opportunities and policy challenges present in both neighbouring countries.
The forum will be held at the Royal International Convention Centre in Brisbane, Australia, on May 1-2 and online registrations have opened.
It will involve a range of speakers on various topics.
At least 300 delegates and 50 trade booths are expected.
The forum will discuss a wide range of business activities and opportunities in Papua New Guinea, and will identify challenges that may stand in the way of investment.
“This event continues the work of promoting trade and investment between Australia and Papua New Guinea,” Australia-Papua New Guinea Business Council president Peter Taylor said. Taylor said there was a close relationship between the council and the Business Council of PNG.
PNG council president Robert Nilkare said: “The Business Council of Papua New Guinea is once again pleased to partner with the Australia-Papua New Guinea Business Council in this event.”
Items on the agenda include the Papua New Guinea economy, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, education, infrastructure development, transport, energy, resources, information technology, agriculture, tourism, Bougainville and the not-for-profit sector.
