SP Hunters forward Sylvester Namo says he is aiming for a stronger Hostplus Cup campaign next season as the team complete their final week of 2021 training before the Christmas break.
The former Lae Tiger said yesterday that his debut year with the Matthew Church-coached side was a learning curve for him.
“It was a challenge playing away from home, but we managed well,” Namo said.
“Though we didn’t finish the way we would have wanted, I’m still happy that we completed the season.
“I really want to improve on my performance like the rest of the players in the squad.
“We understand the significance of the club and what it represents.
“As a team, we really want to make our country proud by competing hard each week.”
Namo said transitioning would be a challenge with a good number of players from last season missing out on next year.
“It will be another hurdle, but I think the new players are fitting in well,” he said.
“I was in the same position in the previous pre-season and I’m sure the new players will do just fine.”
Namo said being away from his family last season was not easy.
“No doubt I miss my family and friends, but that is what I signed up for,” he said.
“I am always proud to wear the Hunters jersey.
“I am looking forward to the challenge in the new season.”
