THE PNGFM Charity Drive 2012 in support of the Kings of Hearts Foundation starts this weekend with the Barefoot Bowls Day at the Murray Barracks Bowling Club from 12.30pm-5.30pm.
Charity Drive chairperson, Rosemerie Botong, who goes by the radio name Shaz, said the response for the first of the monthly planned events had been tremendous.
“It was a first-come, first-serve basis but we’re still getting calls from interested teams wanting to register,” she said. “Our goal is to raise K300,000 to buy an echo machine for the Sir Buri Kidu Heart Institute and it’s good to know that interest for the cause has built up.
“We now know that we have the support now and will be there for the other events planned for the rest of the year.”There are 16 teams taking part in the fun day – Perpetual Niugini Ltd (2), O’Ben Enterprise, Pacwealth Capital Limited, Team Kurakum, SP Brewery (2), BSP 4 Kings, Red Carpets Events, Beachside Brasserie, Team Kokomos, Team Legends, Team Tapa, Laurabada Larrikins, NGCB and PNGFM Wiggies. Every team will get six games.
“From the event alone, we’re expecting to raise K6,000.”
The Kings of Hearts Foundation are still on the lookout for a major sponsor and anyone interested can call Raymond Romalus on 7202 6969 or Al Manning on 7128 6616.
