KUMURA Foundation, a local community-based organisation in remote Bundi in Madang, received 70 mattresses from the Brian Bell Foundation on April 4.
Vincent Kumura, foundation director, said that he was very thankful to the Brian Bell Foundation (BBF) for donating 70 mattresses and pillows for their new 70-person orphan students dormitory at the Gembogl Orphan Resource Centre ACE School in Chimbu.
“The dormitory will house 66 children aged five to 14, majority are from the 10 major tribes of Bundi – including a few from Gembogl. The new dormitory is due to be completed by mid-June.
“According to our development plan, the dormitory is set to be completed by the end of May, but due to the recent natural disasters that hit Kundiawa-Gembogl, it has affected work on the dorm,” Kumura said.
The project is the second biggest boarding initiative set up after Mt Wilhelm Secondary School, but for younger children to promote quality early childhood learning and it could be the first in the country to take young disadvantaged children from another province.
