Four new Covid deaths

FOUR Papua New Guineans died from the Covid-19 on Tuesday, boosting the country’s death toll to 60.
PNG Covid-19 National Pandemic Response spokesman Chief Supt Dominic Kakas said in a media statement released yesterday that all four deaths were reported in the National Capital District (NCD).
The dead were two women aged 19 and 63, and two men aged 44 and 49.
Chief Supt Kakas said the NCD had recorded 48 Covid-19 deaths to date, the highest in the country.
He said West Sepikregistered three deaths so far, West New Britain, Western Highlands and Western province recorded two deaths each while Enga, Jiwaka and Morobe had one death each.
As of Tuesday, the country recorded 371 new Covid-19 infections raising the nation’s total to 5,991.
Meanwhile, Deputy Pandemic Controller Dr Osborne Liko said the number of incidence of Covid-19, including positive tests and deaths were increasing daily.
“From the statistics we have, the cases are not increasing by months (as seen in the past), it is now going by the day,” he said.
