Franchises fail to pay full affiliation fees

EIGHT franchises confirmed for this year’s semi-professional Telikom National Soccer League, including reigning champions Hekari United have yet to pay their affiliation fee of K75,000.
NSL chairman John Kapi-Natto said the fee had remained the same this year as decided by the NSL board.
He said the only concessions that had been made had been the extension of the deadline for payment from Sept 3 to Sept 30.
Up until the Independence anniversary week, no payments had been received.According to the competition manager Edward Tauloi, there are eight teams that have nominated and accepted to take part in this season’s NSL competition.
They are Hekari United FC, Eastern Star FC, University Inter FC, CMSS Tigers FC, Gelle Hills (Port Moresby) FC, Gigira Laitepo Morobe FC, Lae University and Besta PNG United FC.
The season to scheduled to kick off on Oct 31.
Meanwhile, PNGFA are inviting member associations to send their select sides to contest  the national Under-20 men’s soccer championships in Madang .
Selections from the championships would be drafted into the newly established  Besta PNG United based at the PNGFA academy.
PNGFA general secretary Dimirit Mileng said the players selected must show proof of age.
He added that the championships will be held in Madang from Sept 24-27 and all teams wishing to take part must pay their expression of interest fee of K50.
The nomination fee for the championships is K350 but member associations must pay K300 into the PNGFA account in Lae prior to the tournament.
