CENTRE Joe Frank is determined to earn a recall to the SP Hunters squad as he prepares for another Digicel Cup season with Waghi Tumbe.
He told The National that it was an average 2020 season for Tumbe, who were edged by Enga Mioks for the final spot in the playoffs.
But the Jiwaka man said he was confident of a strong season ahead.
“I’m looking forward to giving my best for Tumbe in the upcoming season,” Frank said.
“I want to put my best foot forward for Tumbe and hopefully earn a recall to the Hunters squad.
“The Hunters system is not new to me.
“As a rugby league player in Papua New Guinea, it’s one of the best systems to be a part of. I made my Hunters debut in the 2019 season but I was later released from camp when Michael Marum was the coach.
“It was tough for me, but fortunately I made the squad again last year.
“But because of the Covid-19 pandemic, we were told to go back and join our Digicel Cup teams, so I returned to Tumbe.
“I had the chance to come back and play for Tumbe, but unfortunately we didn’t make it into the top-six after a lot of changes in the season.
“After last season, a good number of us were not considered to re-join the Hunters.
“For now, I’m working really hard with Tumbe.
“I’m confident that we will make the finals this year.”
