Freedom of speech

I AM concerned about the freedom of the press and freedom of speech in our beautiful country.
I know democracy is a government system of the people by the people, for the people.
In other words, people have the power or have a say in the making government and the running of their country, if I understand it right. I am not a political scientist, but from what I see and here, particular with the use of the social media, I fear a dangerous trend is being set.
I may be wrong.
I don’t want to see freedom of the press and freedom of speech join the list of endangered species.
