Freeway opens to traffic

BOTH sides of the Poreporena Freeway in the National Capital District were opened for traffic on Thursday.
The 1.2km road from Harbour City to Champion Parade, Down Town, Port Moresby, will be a major relief for the regular motorists in that area who had endured repairs, upgrades, realignment, sealing, long queues and much delay for most of the year
China funded the roadwork as part of a K70 million upgrade for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) Leaders’ Summit in November.
Contractor China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd said the China Aid Apec project was scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
