INTEROIL yesterday recognised two local station operators for being the highest fuel sellers throughout the country last year.

The Waigani InterOil in Port Moresby, NCD, and Kona InterOil service station in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, received awards for their achievements.

InterOil national marketing manager Don Lewthwaite said the achievement was a record set by the two respective service stations.

“I can tell you that, in Australia, the ordinary suburban service station, which is the equivalent of what we have here, would not do 10 million litres a year.

“Those sorts of volumes are only done by truck-stops that are selling huge volumes, not the suburban type service stations like that in Waigani.

“Everything we (InterOil) try to do in the retail, we try to do as assistance to you guys, to add value to your businesses,” he said.

Waigani service station operated by Dekmog Ltd achieved 10 million litres sales volume in a year, making it the first in InterOil’s history.

Operated by couple William Onglo and Nancy, the service station increased its sales volume from 8.678 million litres compared to 10 million litres in the previous year.

It was presented with “2013 retail milestone award” by InterOil Products Ltd. Kona service station of Nambi Investment Ltd was awarded the “retail excellence award” for achieving highest growth percentage throughout last year.
