Fun-Run T-shirts to go on sale

TRUKAI Industries and the Papua New Guinea Olympics Committee (PNGOC) launched the sale of Fun Run T-shirts yesterday, with the proceeds to go towards funding Team PNG’s preparations for this year’s Tokyo Olympics.
Although the usual Fun Run event will not be taking place this year due to Covid-19, Trukai will be selling the T-shirts at participating outlets in Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen.
PNGOC president Sir John Dawanincura appealed to corporate entities and organisations to buy the T-shirts and help the committee reach their targeted sale of 65,000 shirts.
“It’s difficult this year simply because there’s no event (fun run), but this launch is an appeal to corporate citizens to assist us because we still need to raise funds to attend the Olympic Games,” he said.
“We are appealing to corporate houses through this launch to assist us. The sale price will be K10 per T-shirt.
“It also gives the corporate sector the opportunity to advertise their brands on the T-shirts they buy and it’s for a worthy cause.
“It also helps the school which they give the T-shirts to.
“We will encourage schools to stage their own event.”
Meanwhile, Trukai marketing manager Maryanne Tom said it was unfortunate that the 2020 and 2021 Fun Runs could not take place as both organisations had to adhere to the nationwide Covid-19 restrictions.
