Fund Manam people’s resettlement now

Letters

MANAM volcano in Bogia, Madang, erupted again last Tuesday.
No casualties were reported, but a good number of gardens, water wells and houses were destroyed.
Those who left the care centres at Bogia’s mainland did so because there was not enough space to make gardens.
There were not enough resources at the care centres to build houses.
The struggles Manam people face are things I would never wish on anyone.
They have been suffering for almost 20 years now.
On behalf the people of Bogia, I appeal to the Government to immediately provide funding and ensure that they are resettled.
Their suffering has been going on for far too long.
They deserve a chance at living better lives.
