THE East New Britain provincial administration will assist police with funding to provide security during the local level government elections.

Acting provincial police commander Sr Insp David Yapu said it reflected the cordial working relationship between the provincial government and police.

He said the police headquarters in Port Moresby would not be providing funds for operations during the elections in ENB.

“We have submitted our funding requirements to the provincial election steering committee and are preparing for the issue of writs tomorrow.”

He said 80 police officers would deployed to the 18 LLGs with two officers each to Kokopo, Rabaul, Gazelle and Pomio.
