TABIBUGA station in Jimi, Jiwaka, received funding support from local MP and Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion Wake Goi to restore the run down Government services there.
Goi gave a total of K310,000 to the station as well as a new ambulance for Tabibuga health centre.
He gave K60,000 to fix the district generator, K70,000 to Jimi River Primary School, K120,000 to maintain the rundown Tabibuga health centre (along with the ambulance), K40,000 to
the caretakers of the station and K20,000 to those involved in cleaning the
station.
Goi said he was committed to funding and reviving rundown facilities in his electorate to ensure a better standard of life for his constituents.
He said public servants in the district, particularly at the station, would also receive support. Goi said the aim of the funding was to make Tabibuga station functional again to have Government presence in the area.
He said he had not been able to act earlier because of politics and safety issues.
“Politics should not interfere with service delivery and elected leaders should move around freely without any threats, intimidation or fear,” he said.
Goi promised the people that he would continue make sure the station and surrounding area was developed in terms of essential infrastructure such as roads and bridges and services in health and education.
He urged the people to welcome the developments and maintain them.
Tabibuga community leader and former Middle Jimi LLG president Gul Karap said since the Goi was showing his commitment to the people, he called on the community to help create positive change in the district.
