Games team in wrong colours

THE Olympic Games will begin in a few days’ time and Team PNG is already in Rio de Janeiro, the host city. Our hopes are on the athletes representing our country. We wish them well in their specific sports.  At such stage it is not all about winning but being there in itself is an achievement that athletes should be commended for traveling a long road to qualify to be there. It was good to see first pictures of Team PNG coming from Rio but it was a surprise to see our team in an unusual colour of grey and red, not in their usual black, red and gold. I thought it was a team from New Caledonia in grey and red. Whoever chose the colour of our athletes’ track suits got it wrong. In future maintain the traditional national colours for all our national teams. Nevertheless, we wish the athletes all the best in their games in the coming days.
