Ganim held over misuse of funds

POLICE have charged former Wabag MP Robert Ganim for allegedly misusing State funds amounting to around K139, 884.
National Fraud Anti-Corruption Directorate director Chief Superintendent Matthew Damaru said Ganim was arrested in Port Moresby on Monday and charged with one count of official corruption.
Ganim, 56, is from Teremanda village in the Wabag district of Enga. He lost the seat in the 2017 general election.
Ganim allegedly committed the offences while in office.
Police alleged that Ganim had paid K139,884.80 from the district administration to buy a new vehicle which he used.
Ganim was arrested on Monday and taken to the Boroko Police Station where he was interviewed and locked in the cell.
Damaru said Ganim was later granted K1000 bail to await his court appearance.
