Gazelle continuing road repairs: Wong

GAZELLE MP Jelta Wong says his district continues to conduct routine and responsive repairs on feeder and main trunk roads.
Wong said the district purchased roadwork machinery to enable repairs to feeder roads in the wards and had gone as far as maintaining roads that came under the responsibility of the provincial government.
People from Vunga and Avungi areas in Inland Baining recently complained about the condition of roads there.
Wong conceded that road upgrading and maintenance was crucial in Gazelle as it faced geographical challenges.
He said it was convenient to have roadwork machines readily available to respond to maintenance in the 131 wards in the district.
Wong said key roads completed included the first phase from Bitakapuk ward one to Waririki ward one which is about 2km and cost K2 million.
Phase 2 is underway.
