FC Genesis coach Percy Mataio is pleased with his side’s progress in the Port Moresby Premier League after six games.
Following a thumping 9-0 win over Momase on Saturday, FC Genesis are third behind Keleiruna and ladder leaders Mungkas FC.
Mataio said his boys had been improving each week and were aiming to remain in the winners’ circle.
“What’s pleasing is the fact that the players have been sticking to our style of play and executing better than previous weeks,” Mataio said.
“The players have been analysing their mistakes from their last six games, giving a lot of focus on their combinations.
“They all stepped up with a high pressing, reactive style of play last weekend which saw us transit quickly into counter attacks.
“This set the platform for the players to finish off with a big win.
“Rodney Mobiha looked very impressive, collecting his first hat-trick along with fellow striker Nathaniel Lepani.
“Kenneth Arah, Riggy Togubai and Nigel Tundu all bagged a goal each in the rout.
“This gives us a bit more confidence but we need to work harder to match Mungkas and Keleiruna who currently lead the league.
“The remaining games will be a lot harder given that teams will start to peak, so this motivates us to keep improving our standards.
“Hopefully, we can remain competitive with the top teams.”
